So today, July 29th, is National Lasagna Day. With this in mind, we went to Brio Tuscan Grille where we got a large lasagna for half off ($8!)  We also went purposefully at around 8:30 so we could sit at the bar and enjoy half of a large lasagna, and then at 9 PM sharp start ordering Tuscan Tasters for $2.95 each at the bar. The lasagna was nice, I was expecting it to be ground beef but it was sausage which was a pleasant surprise. The ricotta cheese was ok but the mozzarella cheese melted on top was awesome. From the Tuscan Tasters menu which was 3 PM to 7 PM, and 9 PM to 10 PM, we ordered spicy shrimp and eggplant (pan seared shrimp with Romano crusted eggplant in a black pepper cream sauce). The sauce was a little extreme but the shrimp was cooked to perfection (not undercooked or overcooked). We also ordered the sliced steak bruschetta ( with gorgonzola dulce, arugula, fennel, charred tomato, Parmigiano-Reggiano  on top of slices of steak and Tuscan Italian dressing.) The gorgonzola dulce had was surprisingly sweet but the fennel and charred tomato offered a perfect balance of bitterness. Out of the two taster dishes, the steak bruschetta was by far my favorite. And for taster portions, this dishes were huge!  The only bad thing was that the bar tender was tending to everyone sitting at the bar; service here sucked.

The Vortex Bar and Grill- The Largest Burger Ever

Let me just start by telling you the name of this burger: Double Coronary Bypass.
Topped with two fried eggs, six slices of American cheese, and eight slices of bacon, all served between the two grilled cheese sandwiches that we use in place of the regular hamburger buns. for $15, you can make history!

the aerial view, it doesn't look so intimidating

its when you put the other grilled cheese sandwich on, that you begin to get nervous

or when you're trying to figure out how to bite something that is almost the same length as your hand

and not only do you have to worry about eating essentially two sandwiches in one, but they give you a mountain of tater-tots too!

Great thing about this location is that it’s located in the same plaza as a Super H-Mart. So you can grab a meal and groceries in one trip. From the outside, this place looks expensive, which is why two people shared one lunch plate (which was filling enough). The decor was set in old school Korean fashion with polished wooden benches and a built-in grill at each table. I saw the fancy private room; it was a room with low long tables, and each seat was a fancy pillow.

the galbi (kalbi) was amazing. the meat was tender and flavorful and fell off the bone!

this is probably one of my favorite korean desserts, it’s like a red bean paste covered with fried dough in the shape of a fish. I bought it at the neighboring super H-mart. There is also one with chocolate filling but nothing beats traditional red bean paste!
