oxbow public market

A few gals and myself came here for lunch on a Saturday for my bachelorette party. Since there were quite a few of us, I knew that Oxbow would be a good choice for us because we could split up and everybody could go grab what they want and eat together. The only problem with my genius plan was that not that many places were serving lunch at 11 AM and so most of us got food from Pica Pica, the Venezuelan eatery.

I ordered the shredded beef pabellon arepa (sweet corn flavor arepa) which came with sweet plantains, black bean spread and queso fresco. I mainly chose this because it has plantains and black beans. I wasn’t a huge fan of the shredded beef but I loved the texture of the arepa, I really felt like with each bite you could appreciate the fresh corn with a crunchy exterior.

Since my arepa came with plantains, I decided to get the empanadas for the table. I got a variety of fillings like beef and cheese. The empanadas were pretty good but not nearly as amazing as the arepa (corn wrapper). Next time I’m here, I really want to check out some of the other vendors at Oxbow.
