So Root has taken over this restaurant space for almost a year now but I didn’t have a chance to dine here until today! Slowly but surely getting to everywhere on my Nola bucket list before I move out of town. The decor here is very cute, I think it is an homage to its namesake, Root, and so they use lots of nature colors like brown and green. It wasn’t too full at lunch time which was nice because we didn’t have a reservation and so we were seated right away.
The Root Burger has caramelized onion and aged cheddar served on a brioche bun. My friend ordered this for lunch, and she cut me a piece. It was pretty delicious. The meat was juicy and the aged cheddar was very good.
My other friend had grilled fish tacos for lunch. Her portion was so large, she ended up taking almost half home. It was lemon marinated grilled fish, local cabbage radish slaw, charred jalapeno tartar served on corn tortillas. I tried a bite, it was pretty good.
The BBB Burger is the Big Black Burger composed of blue cheese, bacon on a black brioche bun with bitter arugula greens. I don’t think I’ve ever tried black brioche bun, it tasted the same as regular brioche but looked cooler. I loved the bacon and blue cheese combo, very popping.
