Truluck Seafood and Steakhouse
5350 Westheimer Rd.
we had the chance to eat at Truluck during Houston’s August restaurant week(s), and as you can see, I’m way behind in posting. Anywho, we each got a 3 course meal.
My friend started off with the “ice cold watermelon” and tomato gazpacho with jumbo lump crab. It was luke-warm and kind of bland. To be fair, the waiter had warned us against ordering this dish but my friend was drawn to ice cold watermelon on a hot summer day.
The lobster bisque was sinfully creamy. It was like you knew you would regret it if you finished the entire thing but you would regret it even more if you don’t finish it. It was so delicious!
The crabcake was delicious and crispy on the outside. I wish there was more! It wasn’t part of restaurant week but we wanted to try it.
the Crab Alfredo had Blue king crab and snow crab in a rich pecorino sauce tossed with fresh pasta and some toasted bread on the side. There was a ton of pasta in this dish! This dish was enough for 2 meals. At first I thought it was heavy but the flavors of the crab really came through. I loved this dish.
Blackened Texas redfish Pontchartrain with crawfish, Laughing Bird shrimp and blue crab in a piquant Creole cream sauce. The redfish was pretty good.
The chocolate cake was served with fresh macerated berries. I actually didn’t try this one.
I don’t know what it is but I’m a sucker for carrot cake. This carrot cake was moist and home-y! I loved it plus the caramel on it which I’ve never had before with carrot cake. But it worked!
