This has been a chaotic day, starting off in New Orleans, then stopping by Denver, CO to end up in San Francisco, CA. My visit started off with a to do list of over 100 items. Just kidding, my own list wasn’t that long, but my motivation was this article of 100 items you must eat in San Francisco before you die:

Met up with my fellow foodie on Mission St and we began our journey:
First off was the Rosamunde Sausage Grill at 2832 Mission St for their famous Beer Sausage with sauerkraut and grilled onions (#23). The sausage was juicy, with pork consistency but beef flavoring. I loved the wasabi spicy sauce and garlic jalapeno sauce I poured over mine. Washed it down a refreshing beer.

Second stop was La Taqueria for some delicious carnitas tacos! (#3 on the list)
2889 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA 94110-3907

Wow the tomato was soooo fresh on this and the tortilla was clearly made of corn. It was DELICIOUS! especially the fresh corn tortillas. The pork was flavorful and very tender.
Third stop was King’s Bakery for some famous coconut buns (what the heck is a Chinese bakery doing in a very heavily Latin-influenced neighborhood?) This was #52 on the list.
2846 Mission Street. San Francisco, CA

When you look at the amazing selection, you are already floored. But when the woman pointed out the coconut bun to me, I was a little disappointed. It didn’t seem like much. Never judge a book by its cover! One bite and I was shocked by the flavor of the bread and the sweet surprise inside. I finished mine and went back for one more!
Fourth was Dynamo Donuts for delicious spiced chocolate donuts!
(#54 on the list)
2760 24th Street. San Francisco, CA

Even its appearance looks well decorated. When I ate it though my tongue was so confused. It was sweet with brown sugar, then there was a bit of spice like cinnamon or cardammon or cumin, couldn’t quite figure it out, and then sweet again with chocolate. It was awesome and moist and delicious.
Fifth stop of the day was La Torta Gorda for their pierna enchilada torta which was only $5 for the junior size. #39 on the list.
2833 24th Street. San Francisco, CA

This pulled pork sandwich came on toasted bread with all the toppings, avocado, sour cream, jalapenos, and onions. The pork was very rich and tender and the bread was fresh. I loved this sandwich!
Sixth stop of the day was Philz coffee which wasn’t exactly on the list of places to eat at but is famous for their one-cup drip coffee. Each cup of coffee is made special and fresh (starting with the roasted beans). They grind the beans on the spot and then pour spalding hot water over it and let it drip into your cup. Then they ask you if you want cream and sugar and steam it into your cup so that you get foam! Awesome!

Second to last stop of the day was Bi-Rite Creamery for the salted caramel ice cream. Which is #35 on the list.

Located at 3692 18th Street. It was beautiful because we got to walk by the Dolores Park (yes, we’ve been walking the entire afternoon and yours truly was carrying her stupid pathology textbook and binder with her.)I think that was the only way we were able to eat at so many places, in addition to splitting everything, we did so major walking. we’re talking epic. jkjk. it was just hot, and hilly. The salted caramel really just tasted like an intense burnt caramel. We’re talking super concentrated flavor. As soon as we were done sampling here and there, a huge line formed that went out the door!
Last stop of the day was Fisherman’s Wharf! Ok, OK, i know every website I read said to avoid this tourist trap, but guess what, I’m a tourist! Of course I’m going to come here and check it out. I think though because it was freezing, we were able to find parking and the main place I wanted to check out was closed. We ended up walking up and down various food stands and decided to go with the Chinese-ppl-manned stand. We got clam chowder in a bread bowl (it was white! i feared we would get red clam chowder out here) It was yummy, I wish the bread had been softer but I guess if it were softer it wouldn’t be able to the hold the soup as well. We got the fried calamari + crab cake. The batter on the fried calamari was alright, but the crab cake was not. We also got the 1/2 lobster + shrimp boiled plate, which were both pretty flavorless (probably cuz up until we had ordered it, it was sitting in ice in a display case for everyone). Yay for liquid butter.

What brought you to San Francisco? I’m visiting the city with a friend in November for a mini-vacation. I’ll be sure to check your restaurants and the link
I couldn’t help but notice the caption in the last photo of this SF tour review. (about the bridge being red). That photo is of the Bay Bridge. The red bridge you speak of, is in the other direction, following the piers. cheers.
