Since this place is known as the draught emporium, my friend and I thought that after sitting in a car for so long, we might as well treat ourselves to some local breweries. Ok, the first thing that I noticed when I walked in was how young everybody was. We had passed by a few other bars on our way to this one, and the other bars were more accomodating to older folks but this place was mostly college students or recent college grads. The walls are covered in dishes of people who have won various drinking challenges at this establishment (literally covered! and there’s different color dishes to signify how many times an individual has won those drinking games).
beer #1 was a a Raleigh, NC native = Lonerider shotgun betty (wheat beer). I liked it, it was light and refreshing.
beer #2 = Schneider Aventinus (doppleback). bit darker and more full-bodied, but there was a slight sweet kick at the end that I liked a lot.
This space was HUGE. there were a ton of tables and the bar was super long! I thought it was cool how all the taps were on the wall made of pennies. We orderd the chips and nacho dip (which was just your generic queso dip and tostitos chips).
